Ben Kenis is the Music Programs Manager for Recruitment and Admissions at the UIC School of Theatre and Music. He works with talented prospective students who wish to pursue a career in the performing arts.
Before joining UIC, Ben worked at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University, where he served as Interim Assistant Dean for Enrollment and Student Services and Assistant Director of Admissions. He began his professional career in higher education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as the Music Admissions Graduate Assistant for the School of Music.
Ben holds a Master of Music and dual Bachelor of Music degrees in Music Performance and Music Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he studied with Debra Richtmeyer. As a saxophonist, Ben won first prize at the 2012 Music Teacher National Association Chamber Music Competition as a member of the Cerulean Saxophone Quartet. He also participated in a recording project of previously unreleased chamber music for saxophone by Percy Grainger.
